The Partnership

We are a medium sized firm of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys formed out of the merger of Baron & Warren and G.F. Redfern & co.  The merger, which becomes fully effective as of 1 June 2008, brings together two firms of long standing in the field of Intellectual Property, with G.F Redfern & Co having its origins dating back to 1830 and Baron & Warren dating back to 1924.  The firm practices in all technical fields and advises on all aspects of intellectual property.

Comprising a total of over twenty-five firm members including professionals and records, renewals and secretarial staff, the main office, originally located in a cobble stone mews in the heart of Kensington, London, is now situated in Hammersmith, in newly refurbished offices.  The office, equipped with a computer network, runs up-to-date records and accounting packages.  In addition to the London office, we have a branch office in Sevenoaks, Kent.  This office is conveniently situated, with easy access by rail and road, and is close to Gatwick Airport and the motorway network around London.

Patents - the firm provides a full service, offering advice to patent applicants, prosecuting patent applications before both the UK and European Patent Offices, filing and defending patent oppositions and advising on revocations and infringement issues. We also have extensive experience in prosecuting applications in the USA and Japan and before other important foreign national Offices. Additionally, we provide support services such as patent searching, watching and translations. Using our powerful records package, we offer a competitive patent renewals service.

Trade Marks - our team can provide advice at each stage of the life-cycle of trade marks from initial searching through to prosecuting trade mark applications in the UK and abroad, as well as filing and defending oppositions and advising on revocations, infringements and passing-off issues. The firm has representatives fully accredited to practice before the Community Trade Mark Office (OHIM). In common with patents, we also provide important support services in world-wide trade mark watching and a competitive trade mark renewals service.

In addition to the Patents and Trade Marks, the firm advises on registered and unregistered design right protection, domain names and copyright and general licensing matters.

Providing constructive and cost-effective advice to both large and small clients, the firm has skills in a wide range of technical fields ranging from mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering, including telecommunications, computer and semiconductor technology, to the chemical and bio-chemical fields.
